Christmas Exhibition 2025
A Season of Contemporary New Zealand Art at Paper-Works Gallery
Paper-Works Gallery’s annual Christmas Exhibition brings together more than forty artists from across Aotearoa, offering a vibrant, multi-layered collection of painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics.
This year’s exhibition highlights the breadth of contemporary practice in New Zealand — from Georgie Johnson’s atmospheric abstractions and Michael Hawksworth’s exquisite pencil studies, to botanical works by Bridget Bidwell, bold compositions by Martin Poppelwell, and intimate drypoints by Catherine MacDonald and Kyla Cresswell.
Visitors will discover expressive animal portraits by Ginny Grayson, playful works by Susan Mabin, evocative monotypes by Joanna Fieldes, kōwhaiwhai-based pieces by Jacob Scott, coastal photography by Andy King, and dynamic woodblock prints by Sheyne Tuffery. Larger-scale paintings by Tony Lane, reflective works by Margaret Silverwood, resin and light sculptures by Lizzie Goodall, and new pieces by Beatrice Carlson, Julia Stevenson, and Sarah Guppy round out the show.
The exhibition is designed to invite slow looking, good conversation, and the pleasure of discovering art that resonates. Whether you are adding to a collection or searching for a meaningful piece to gift or enjoy at home, there is work here for every scale, sensibility, and budget.
Flexible purchasing options, including MyArt interest-free art loans, are available.
