Tucked between vineyards and the coast, our gallery offers a quiet, thoughtfully curated space to enjoy contemporary artworks on paper by established and emerging artists from Aotearoa and beyond. Whether you’re a first-time visitor, a local regular, or just following the signs from the beach café, you’re warmly welcome.

Opening Hours

We’re open to the public from 11 AM to 3 pm, Thursday to Sunday.

Free entry. No appointment necessary. Just curiosity.

Getting here

Whether you're meandering the cycle trails or flying in from Auckland, finding Paper-Works Gallery is part of the adventure. Here's how to get to us:

  • We’re located at 268 Clifton Road, Te Awanga, a scenic 25-minute drive from Napier and just 15 minutes from Havelock North or Hastings.

    From Napier:
    Follow SH2 south, turn onto Te Mata Mangateretere Rd, continue to Clifton Rd, and you'll find us just past Clearview Estate Winery.

    From Hastings or Havelock North:
    Take Te Mata Road, through Havelock North to Arataki Road → continue onto Clifton Road. Look out for signs to wineries, Cape Kidnappers, and us.

    Free on-site parking is available.

  • Cycling is a wonderful way to explore our region. Paper-Works Gallery is nestled along the Cape Coast section of the Hawke’s Bay Trails — part of Ngā Haerenga, New Zealand’s official cycle trail network.

    We recommend:

    Perfect for a relaxed half-day ride, with cellar doors and coastline en route.

  • Flying in? Hawke’s Bay Airport (NPE) offers direct flights from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. From the airport, it's a 30–35 minute drive to Te Awanga. You can rent a car at the terminal or book a local taxi or shuttle.

  • Staying in Te Awanga? We’re within walking distance from most local accommodations and homestays. It’s a beautiful stroll — just follow the sound of birds and sea.

  • Unfortunately, there’s no public bus that reaches Te Awanga directly. We recommend arranging a ride with a local taxi, or shuttle service, or hiring a bike if you're based nearby.
