grant gallagher

Grant Gallagher was born in Christchurch (1954) and lives and works in Auckland. Primarily self-taught although he did attend Ilam, School of Fine Arts at Canterbury University for one year. Gallagher has worked in the advertising and publishing industries as an art director and creative director for the past 30 years. He has maintained his art practice throughout these years but has only exhibited rarely.

“I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. From the beginning what has fascinated me most is the process of taking existing preformed materials and found objects and transforming them through the methods of disassembly and reassembly to create new forms with a beauty not normally associated with such materials.”
