Gavin Chilcott & RALPH PAINE

Gavin Chilcott and Ralph Paine collaborated together in 1990 by working on paintings and then posting them to each other for reworking in their respective cities of residence. The result is a collection of works with a marvelous sense of presence. This series of paintings were concerned with Pacific Island culture, but were also an exploration of ideas about displacement. In these works, as each artist worked separately, they would add to each other’s contribution to create the final jointly executed painting. Gavin and Ralph have worked together on many collaborations including a range of works on ceramic.
