Philip Trusttum is one of New Zealand's most recognised painters. He graduated from the University of Canterbury School of Art in 1964 and since that time has exhibited his work extensively throughout New Zealand. He has also shown in Sydney, Melbourne and New York and in 1984 was part of the ANZART at the Edinburgh Arts Festival. His work is included in all of New Zealand's major public and private collections. Philip Trusttum has completed many commissions, most notably, Passport to the New Millennium a huge 2.4 x 84 metre painting at the Christchurch Convention Centre, 1999, and in 1995 completed a 17metre high mural for Sky City Casino in Auckland. His paintings are, for the most part, large and dynamic and range across subject matter from the near abstract to that which is robustly and inventively figurative. Very fluent with drawing Philip Trusttum is able to work comfortably in the print medium as the works on this site attest.
