Margaret Silverwood

Margaret Silverwood was born in South Australia and initially migrated to Dunedin, before settling in Whanganui. After graduating with distinction in 2004 as a Bachelor of Fine Arts printmaking major from the Quay School of the Arts, Whanganui UCOL, Margaret has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand. She has also exhibited in group shows in Australia and the United States, and participated in an international print exchange originating from Monash University, Melbourne. Margaret has self-published two mini-comics, winning the Art award in the New Zealand Comic Awards 2010 for Utopia Now: Vol. 1. Margaret Silverwood's printmaking and drawing reflects her interest in human beings' troubled relationship with the rest of nature, our colonial past, the relationship of Europeans to Pacific cultures, and the pitfalls of modern living.
