Kathryn Madill was born in Ruatahuna in 1951, and spent most of her childhood in Taupo and Dunedin. She graduated from Canterbury University’s School of Art in 1971, having majored in printmaking. Kathryn has since lived in Nelson, Waikouaiiti and Auckland since then. She currently works on her paintings and prints in Dunedin. Her work is imaginative, haunting and lyrical, and she draws the viewer into the picture through the intimacy of the work and her sensitivity to mood and detail. Kathryn Madill has exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand in both solo and group exhibitions.
