Elaine Mayer, BFA ( Auckland University 1991), directed the ASA Gallery in Auckland for ten years, and more recently her own gallery. The Mayer Gallery, in Napier. Elaine has also worked as a freelance curator, arts consultant and tutor.

Previously she worked in property management, the teaching profession and in the New Zealand Film Industry. She now lives in Ongaonga , Central Hawke 's Bay and tutors on the Visual Arts and Design Degree Programme at EIT, Hawke's Bay.

Her major for her BFA from the Elam School of Fine Arts was in printmaking. Her prints and ‘constructions' have been exhibited in numerous dealer and public galleries. She is also involved in the design and promotion of a range of contemporary furniture.
